Chaos broke out on Interstate 580 along the Altamont Pass in Livermore, as an out-of-control RV struck multiple cars while barrelling down the shoulder of the road on Monday.
Viewer Alan Wang, who was among those hit by the reckless RV driver, managed to capture the alarming incident on video. He expressed his disbelief and shock, recounting how the RV driver, ignoring the bumper-to-bumper traffic, continued plowing through vehicles with seeming disregard for the damage caused.
Wang can be heard on his video saying, "It was bumper to bumper, and he was just plowing through everyone and just kept on going down the road, smashing into cars." After causing initial havoc, the RV driver then turned into traffic, hitting more vehicles and continuing to drive without stopping.
As of yet, the California Highway Patrol has not responded to inquiries regarding whether officers have apprehended the driver, or if there were any injuries resulting from the incident. This harrowing event underlines the importance of attentive and respectful driving, reminding all motorists of the potential dangers on our roadways.
