Stockton police Det. Andrew Donovan was arrested on suspicion of Driving Under the Influence (DUI) while off-duty on Wednesday night.
Donovan was apprehended around 11:40 p.m. after officers were called to the intersection of Park and Pilgrim streets. Reports suggested that a vehicle had been idling at the intersection for an unusually long period.
Upon arrival, the officers identified the driver of the stalled vehicle as Det. Donovan. Subsequent DUI investigations led to the conclusion that Donovan was indeed under the influence of alcohol at the time.
Following the arrest, Donovan was booked into the San Joaquin County Jail. In response to the incident, the Stockton Police Department has placed Donovan on paid administrative leave pending an administrative review of the situation.
