A stroke of luck has fallen on a Northern California lottery player who nearly clinched the whopping $615 million jackpot. While missing out on the grand prize, the ticket is still a substantial gain, worth an impressive $2.68 million, according to the California Lottery.

This lucrative ticket, matching the first five numbers in Saturday's draw, was purchased at the Quik Stop market located at 4707 Quail Lake Drive in Stockton. The fortunate combination in Saturday's Powerball draw was 7-23-24-32-43, with the Powerball number 18.

Meanwhile, in Los Gatos, a last-minute claimant emerged for a $1.5 million Powerball ticket bought last October. As of Monday morning, the claim was yet to be officially confirmed by the California Lottery.

Despite these sizeable wins, no jackpot tickets have been sold in the multi-state lottery game, escalating the jackpot to an estimated $650 million for Monday night's draw.

Adding to the lottery excitement, a Mega Millions 5/5 ticket worth $1.7 million was sold on Friday in the Southern California city of Oxnard. With no jackpot winners in that draw either, Tuesday's Mega Millions draw is expected to skyrocket to $480 million.

With such substantial sums at stake, the lottery fever continues to spread across the state, leaving residents and lottery players in eager anticipation of the forthcoming draws.
