Breaking News Lodi City Council Member Shakir Khan was arrested Thursday on new voter fraud charges that stem from the 2020 election and was booked into the San Joaquin County Jail, the sheriff’s office said.
Here are his charges:
- Causing/procuring/allowing false voter registration of self/another person
- Submission of fraudulent registration to the secretary of state
- Submission of fraudulent candidacy petition
- Aiding/abetting the commission of fraud at any election
- Subscription of fictitious names to nomination petitions
- False nomination/declaration of candidacy
- Fraudulently casting votes
- Procuring/assisting/counseling/advising another not qualified to vote
Khan, owner of the American Smokers Club in Stockton, was first arrested in November 2020, days before he won his seat on the Lodi City Council. Shakir Khan’s attorney has previously denied the charges and said his client “looks forward to clearing his name.” There is no set court date yet on the new charges.
