STOCKTON – In a notable achievement for the Stockton political landscape, Hollywood Unlocked CEO Jason Lee emerged as the leading candidate in the March primary, paving his way to the November runoff. Lee will face off against the incumbent, Kimberly Warmsley, in a contest that promises to shape the future of District 6 and potentially, the city at large.

Lee's campaign, characterized by integrity, collaboration, and inclusivity, has resonated with many within the community, particularly the youth. "Today is the day! We've done all the work. We’ve proven that this campaign was a real movement and not a moment," Lee expressed. His campaign focused on engaging the often overlooked younger demographic, empowering them to participate actively in civic engagement and understanding their role in driving change in South Stockton.

Despite facing challenges, including personal attacks and skepticism regarding his nonprofit, Hollywood Cares, Lee's determination remained unwavering. His nonprofit previously came under scrutiny by the city council and was denied a $1 million grant due to concerns over the clarity of its financial plans and an existing debt.

Lee's background as a former union organizer and his adept use of social media played a crucial role in garnering support, securing him 1,049 votes (38%), with Warmsley trailing at 863 votes (32%). His commitment to moving Stockton in a new direction and his promise of change have struck a chord with voters.

Should he be elected, California’s conflict-of-interest laws will ensure Lee's impartiality by restricting his participation in council decisions that could financially benefit him or his nonprofit.

As Stockton approaches the November runoff, the spotlight is on Lee and Warmsley, with the outcome set to influence the city's approach to governance, community engagement, and social responsibility. The race for the District 6 council seat is not just about political positions but about the vision for Stockton's future and the role of its leaders in shaping it.
