Early Tuesday morning, a harrowing incident unfolded on the 9000 block of Warm Springs Circle in Stockton's Valley Oak District. Two women and a 3-year-old child were held at gunpoint during a home invasion in what appeared to be an attempted robbery.
According to the homeowner, Surinder, the intruders gained access to her residence through a small opening left in her garage, presumably to combat the heat. Surinder recounted the chilling episode to CBS13, detailing the moments multiple armed men entered her home.
Stockton police reports state that five masked men brandishing weapons stormed the premises. Tragically, among those held captive in their own living room was a 3-year-old girl, who the criminals held at gunpoint while demanding money from her mother. The terrifying ordeal reached its climax when the men abruptly fled the scene.
The adult victims were identified as being 57 and 26 years old, respectively. Both the 57-year-old woman and the 3-year-old child received medical attention for non-life-threatening injuries, but the emotional scars from this traumatic experience are expected to linger. The family conveyed to CBS13 their relief that the ordeal didn't result in a more dire outcome, expressing gratitude that nothing was stolen and everyone is physically unharmed. Nonetheless, the shock and fear remain palpable.
Physical evidence from the scene includes tire marks left outside Surinder's residence by the suspects' hasty exit. Stockton police have described the suspects as five men of an unspecified race.
Authorities are actively investigating the incident and urge anyone with relevant information to reach out to Stockton Crime Stoppers.
