In his fifth year with Tigers baseball, graduate student Ben Nemivant '22, '23 is making waves with a .409 batting average, placing him No. 24 in the nation.
Head Coach Chris Rodriguez praised Nemivant's outstanding performance on the field and his dedication to his academics.
After completing his undergraduate degree in business administration in 2022, Nemivant enrolled in a one-year master's program for business, taking advantage of the extra year of eligibility offered by the NCAA due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite his demanding class schedule, the center fielder attends early hitting sessions separate from the team to maintain his skills.
Coach Rodriguez remarked on Nemivant's focus on hitting the ball in the strike zone this season, which has been the player's priority since high school. Nemivant, who stands at 5-foot-11 and weighs 165 pounds, knew that honing his hitting skills would secure his place in the sport.
Following a successful high school career and a scholarship offer from Pacific, Nemivant faced challenges transitioning to the collegiate level. He credits the university with helping him grow as a player and learn from his mistakes.
As he looks toward the future, Nemivant is considering the possibility of continuing his baseball career after graduation, with the draft as a potential option. The Tigers' next home game is scheduled for May 2 against the University of California, Davis. For more on this story check it out on the Pacific Newsroom.
