The Gospel Center Rescue Mission (GCRM) in Stockton is set to begin construction on its New Life Program Multi-Purpose Center, with a groundbreaking ceremony scheduled for Thursday, September 19, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. The event will take place on the GCRM campus at 445 S. San Joaquin Street.

The new three-story, 12,400-square-foot facility will provide 130 beds, with sleeping rooms accommodating one to four people each. The center will also include shower rooms, laundry facilities, and a classroom space, offering essential resources for those in need.

The Multi-Purpose Center is part of GCRM's New Life Program, a six-to-twelve-month commitment aimed at helping men and women transform their lives through a holistic approach that addresses spiritual, familial, and community needs. The program's goal is to create lasting change by focusing on the individual as a whole.

This groundbreaking follows a previous ceremony in May 2023, when two Victorian buildings were demolished to make way for the new facility. The new center will serve as a critical resource in GCRM's mission to provide long-term solutions for people experiencing homelessness in Stockton.
