Tragedy struck the Stockton community earlier this week when a double shooting claimed the life of a 15-year-old Franklin High School student. The San Joaquin County Medical Examiner's Office identified the young victim as Angelo Rivas on Wednesday.
The incident, which has left the city in shock, occurred near North Center and East Channel streets in downtown Stockton. The site has since been adorned with red roses and candles, marking the place of the unfortunate event.

Stockton Police Department reported that they received a call about the shooting around 4:34 p.m. on Monday. Upon arrival, officers discovered two teens, aged 15 and 16, both suffering from gunshot injuries. While Rivas tragically succumbed to his injuries at the scene, the 16-year-old was rushed to a nearby hospital. Fortunately, he is expected to make a full recovery.

The relationship, if any, between the two victims is still under investigation. At a press conference, spokesperson Scott informed the media that detectives would be probing any connections between the victims.

Authorities are currently on the lookout for the suspects, believed to be three teenagers. However, specific details regarding their identities remain scarce at this time.

Following the incident, the Stockton Unified School District sent out an email to the parents of Franklin High School students, informing them of the tragic loss. The statement expressed the school's deep sorrow, saying, "We are very saddened to inform you that one of our students lost their lives in a violent act yesterday in Stockton." To support grieving students and staff, counselors have been made available at the school.

As the investigation continues, the community comes together to mourn and seek justice for Angelo Rivas.
