Franklin High School in Stockton was briefly put on lockdown following a prank call regarding a supposed weapon on campus, school administrators confirmed.
The unsettling call prompted swift action by the school, despite initial assessments suggesting the call might not be credible. Franklin High's Principal, Anna Lotti, in an email communication to the parents, detailed the incident and the school's immediate response.
Lotti wrote, "The San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Department and the SUSD Department of Public Safety promptly arrived at the scene, conducting a meticulous search of the premises." She was relieved to inform the parent community that the alleged threat proved to be unsubstantiated, leading to the prompt lifting of the lockdown.
The school administration is taking the incident seriously, with an ongoing investigation to identify the individual or individuals behind the hoax. School officials stressed the gravity of such pranks, emphasizing that those found responsible could be met with severe consequences.
The school's primary concern remains the safety and well-being of its students and staff, and they are committed to taking all necessary precautions to ensure a secure environment.
