“We know it can be overwhelming, especially for smaller organizations with limited resources,” said Harder. “That’s why my office is here to help you every step of the way, from identifying the right grants to supporting your application.”

The workshop highlighted several types of federal grants available, such as discretionary grants, awarded based on merit and eligibility; mandatory grants, provided based on statutory conditions; formula grants, awarded based on specific statistical criteria; and block grants, which offer federal assistance for broadly defined functions like community development.

Harder’s office reiterated its commitment to assisting grant seekers by providing services such as grant search assistance, letters of support, and help with understanding federal agency requirements. Attendees were urged to reach out to the Congressman’s office for guidance and support throughout the grant application process.

The event also served as a platform for collaboration among local organizations, encouraging attendees to network and share their experiences. This sense of community and mutual support was a key takeaway from the workshop, as participants were reminded of the collective effort required to bring much-needed services and projects to the Stockton area.
