STOCKTON, Calif. – The Stockton Ports have announced the promotion of Chris Zavaglia to the position of Assistant General Manager, a significant career advancement following his impressive tenure with the team. This promotion, effective after Zavaglia's successful roles in the 2022 and 2023 seasons, marks a key milestone in his professional journey within the world of baseball management.

Zavaglia, 26, embarked on his career with the Ports in April 2021, initially serving as a Media and Videoboard Assistant. His talent and dedication quickly earned him a full-time position as a Ticket Sales and Media Executive after the 2021 season. Before the 2022 season, he ascended to the role of Director of Baseball Communications, a position where he has excelled for the past two years.

Expressing his gratitude and excitement, Zavaglia shared, “It’s an honor to receive this opportunity. I’m excited to continue to deliver and help the Stockton Ports succeed as much as possible. It’s been an amazing three seasons here and I’m looking forward to working with my amazing staff to deliver the best entertainment possible in the San Joaquin Valley.”

Zavaglia's journey in sports management began with the Cal State Maritime Academy as a Sports Information Assistant, where he started as an intern in mid-2018. His trajectory continued with a stint as the media manager for the Independent Baseball Affiliate Vallejo Admirals in June 2020. He also served as a play-by-play voice for various sports teams, including the Sacramento State Hornets baseball team and Cal Maritime basketball and soccer.

Jordan Feneck, the General Manager of the Ports, praised Zavaglia’s commitment and capabilities: “7th Inning Stretch is delighted to honor Chris with this very well-deserved promotion to Assistant General Manager of the Stockton Ports today. Chris has proved day in and day out that he deserves this new role, and I am excited to watch him continue to flourish. He is passionate about our company and wants to see our team succeed, and I am thankful to be working alongside him.”

As he steps into his new role, Zavaglia expressed his thanks to the Stockton Ports, Jordan Feneck, Pat Filippone, and the entire 7th Inning Stretch ownership, stating, “I am thrilled to be a part of the Stockton Ports family and look forward to continue creating exciting memories for our fans at Banner Island Ballpark.”

Zavaglia's promotion is not just a testament to his hard work and dedication but also a beacon of inspiration for those aspiring to rise through the ranks in sports management.
