A 16-year-old student from Lincoln Unified School District is facing charges after making threats on social media, according to the Stockton Police Department. While the threats were found to be unsubstantiated, the student will still face legal consequences for the posts.

The arrest comes amid a wave of similar false threats targeting schools both locally and nationwide. Law enforcement agencies, including Stockton police, Delta College police, and Stockton Unified School District police, have heightened their presence at schools to ensure student safety.

In a statement, Stockton police emphasized the importance of understanding the serious consequences of making threats, even if they are not credible. "It's crucial for parents and students to realize that making threats can lead to disciplinary action at their school, including potential legal consequences," the department posted on social media.

Authorities continue to investigate all potential threats thoroughly to maintain the safety and security of students throughout Stockton.
