In a shocking incident early Thursday morning, a 13-year-old girl was arrested after allegedly leading deputies on a car chase and causing property damage in the Stockton area. The San Joaquin County Sheriff's Office reported that the incident occurred around 1:15 a.m.Deputies noticed a vehicle passing by without its headlights on in the vicinity of Mission Road and Alpine Avenue. Attempting to perform a routine traffic stop, the deputies were met with resistance when the young driver, accompanied by a 12-year-old girl as a passenger, decided to flee from authorities.
During the pursuit, the underage driver disregarded multiple stop signs, putting both her and her passenger's safety at risk. The chase ended abruptly when the vehicle collided with a fence and a fire hydrant near Mission Road and De Ovan Avenue.
Fortunately, both girls were detained without any issues, and they were examined for injuries, showing no apparent signs of harm, as confirmed by the Sheriff's Office.
While the passenger was released to her parents, the 13-year-old driver faced the consequences of her actions and was taken into custody. She has since been booked into Juvenile Hall.
The Sheriff's Office mentioned that prompt action from fire and public works crews prevented further damage when they managed to shut off the damaged fire hydrant. No additional injuries or property damage were reported.
